Meet the performers - 2023

“Beni” Rosa Jet “On”

I am the queen for the Latinx people of the U.S. recalling the light of our departed Tejana star, Selena Quintanilla. I hope to give her justice as most of my inspiration comes from her, with the style points from my favorite artist Elton John. Both of these mixed together gave birth to my first upcoming show I will give to the SMC public. My story is also derived from the idea that most Mexicans in the U.S. don’t speak Spanish, and can be seen as not “true” Mexicans. I will be using this image in my performance as I will be singing a song. I had to learn the lyrics in Spanish but know what they actually mean. Call me a “mentirosa” all you want, but I will give justice to those Mexicans who no hablas español.

Kimi One Night

Kimi is “you” in Japanese -  Will you be mine for one night?

The Japanese American King, Kimi One Night is the symbol of performative progression and toxic masculinity. Be careful ladies, just because his nails are painted and he buys you flowers, doesn’t mean he is a progressive king. The performance for the second song (at SMC), plays on the notion that men tend to only express emotions through anger.

SPVCE SNKE

SPVCE SNKE demonstrates the mysteriousness and nuance of trauma through her spoken word pieces about fragility labels, power, and taking up space. Her image of being wrapped in bubble wrap demonstrates the labels of being deemed “fragile” and “broken”, while she fights to take back power and space with her jarring, honest, and impactful words.

Mister Fabrikator (he/they)

Existing somewhere in the gender continuum between Gerard Way, David Bowie, and the SF Ballet’s rendition of Drosselmeyer is the mad scientist of gender magic known as Mister Fabrikator. My drag persona encapsulates my gender in a perfect world where femininity does not cancel out masculinity, but instead works with it. Playing off of stylistic influences from a variety of alternative subcultures such as new wave, goth, and punk, I present masculinity as I wish it existed in our current present times.

Mysterious J

There’s not much to be known about them. It’s just kind of a mystery. Adaptable to any persona and pronoun flexible. A veteran of the SMC Drag Show, “Suited for Justice, Suited for Change.”

Ya’ Know?

He’s a Jack of all trades with lots of random talents - a real handyman. You want it, he got it.

Queenie Oakbridge (any pronouns)

Queenie channels her dark past and uses it as inspiration. She embraces her gender dysphoria and gives no fucks what people think about her. She loves to be alone but also can be seen partying in the city on Saturday nights. Nobody truly knows the real Queenie, and that’s what attracts the crowds to her the most.

Lady Baba

The name speaks for itself. I am the moment. Watch out or I’ll steal your mama ;) [and be your Lady Baba…Get it? It’s in the name ;D]

He!Yonce (he/they/she)

LIVE. CAMP. WORK.

Jimmy Dean (he/him)

Jimmy Dean is the red-blooded, all-American cowboy of your dreams. This stallion likes a pretty lady, a cold beer, and some country tunes. Born deep in the heart of Texas, Jimmy has ranching and rodeos running through his veins. While traditionally masculine, Jimmy is a gentleman and is working to be in touch with his emotions. If you let this bronco sweep you off your feet, he’ll be a shoulder to cry on and a cowboy to ride on.

Poise ‘n Berry (they/them)

A little info about Poise ‘n Berry:

Come one, come all, to witness the sensation

Of Poise n' Berry, blurring gender with elation

They'll make you question what you thought you knew

So buckle up and hold on tight, for the ride that'll ensue

Their sweet seductive ride of fruity delights

Will tantalize your senses and leave you in heights

With every performance, juicy and succulent to the core

You'll be left wanting, craving, needing more!

Intoxication is their game, sweetness and absurdity in tow

You'll be caught in their spell, and not want to let go

So let yourself loose, let your inhibitions take flight

And indulge in the delight that is Poise n' Berry's sight.
